Call for Papers
Paper proposals are invited for the 6th annual Háskóli Íslands Student Conference on the Medieval North, to be held at the University of Iceland on April 8–9, 2016.
This student-organized two-day event is intended as an interdisciplinary forum for postgraduate students (MA and PhD level) of Old Norse and medieval Scandinavia. Students who have not given papers at academic conferences before are especially encouraged to submit.
In accordance with the HÍ Student Conference’s previous installments the theme of this year’s event is left broadly open to any independent research related to medieval Scandinavia, which may include (but not be limited to) Old Norse literature, history of religion(s), folkloristics, linguistics, archaeology, history, and manuscript studies. Abstracts as well as schedules from previous conferences can be found here on this page.
Participation in this conference is not restricted to those enrolled at the University of Iceland, and interested students abroad are encouraged to apply as well.
If you wish to present a paper at the conference, please email an abstract of 250–350 words to HIstudentconference@gmail.com before February 1st 2016. The student conference committee reserves the right to make selections based on quality of written abstracts and timely submissions thereof.
The conference languages are English and Icelandic, and individual paper presentations will be 20 minutes in length, each followed by a 10 minute discussion.
Please direct any questions or further inquiries to the student conference committee via email (above).
